SAN PEDRO GARZA GARCÍA, NUEVO LEÓN ADOPTS DRIVING SIMULATORS

To evaluate driver's license applicants, the Public Safety Department of San Pedro Garza García has invested in simulation for its driver's license testing.

A standardized exam puts every applicant through a rigorous test, measuring how prepared they are for risk situations such as changing weather conditions, road obstacles, and mechanical failures.

It also builds awareness of cell phone use, the risks of speeding, and drunk driving through an impaired- and fatigued-driving simulation mode.

The city deployed car and motorcycle simulators that also include a police training mode for defensive driving scenarios such as pursuits, high-risk maneuvers, and ambushes — with the department's own vehicles modeled in the patrol software: Ford Interceptor, F-150, and Yamaha FZ07.
