SEGUROS UNIVERSALES AND LA LEGIÓN SEGURIDAD: A NEW APPROACH TO ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS THROUGH A HEAVY-DUTY TRUCK SIMULATOR

According to Guatemala's National Institute of Statistics (INE), more than 2,170 people died in traffic accidents in 2022 alone — a clear sign that traveling the country's highways can often be a risky proposition.
Facing that reality, Universales and La Legión Seguridad formed an alliance to offer a solution that protects lives and reduces the risk of road incidents.
The result is Transporte Seguro, a road safety education experience that uses a driving simulator and specialized software to reduce the risk of heavy-duty truck accidents on Guatemala's highways.
According to Luis Nolasco Sicilia, Claims Manager at Universales, the simulator and its companion software were configured to represent the scenarios and situations drivers face every day on the roads they travel, with the goal of preparing them better for those challenges.
Transporte Seguro combines hands-on practice and classroom instruction designed to complement driver training. It uses technology developed in Spain to simulate different types of roads and trucks.

On the Universales side, Transporte Seguro is a three-year support program aimed at training every one of its clients' drivers and reducing accidents across their fleets.
